Meet Murphy, my clever (but sometimes hilariously stubborn) dog.

The other day she was convinced that this was the perfect way to greet me at the fence.

Snout pressed firmly into the eye hole, she sniffed frantically, completely oblivious to the fact that there was a much better way. She was fully committed to this approach and didn’t see any reason to switch it up because, hey, it was working for her. And while I admire her creativity and dedication to the cause, I gave her snout gentle nudge to show her there’s a better way, one that allowed to smell AND see me on the other side.

Sometimes as leaders, we can get stuck just like Murph.

We get comfortable with a certain approach.

We miss out on better solutions because we fail to consider different perspectives.

We keep sniffing at the same hole, metaphorically speaking, unaware of the wider view right beside us.
